Nikos Dimtsas, the Deputy CEO of DIMAND, represented our company at ITC 2024 - the 7th Infrastructure and Transport Conference on September 17th, participating in a panel titled 'Smart, Green and Digital Construction: Reshaping the Cities of Tomorrow.

Nikos Dimtsas, the Deputy CEO of DIMAND, initially chose to clarify the term ‘green’ building:

‘The designation of a building as green starts from its design and includes elements such as the use of recyclable materials and orientation towards natural light, resulting in reduced consumption and lower thermal needs.’Emphasizing the difference between the past and the present, he noted, ‘In the past, investors and property users rewarded the development of bioclimatic buildings with higher prices or rents. Today, non-bioclimatic properties are ignored, as this characteristic is now a given and part of the ESG policy.’

Referring to DIMAND’s strategy, he stated that the company chooses to invest in sustainable buildings that will be certified according to LEED, a standard also adopted by the market.

In this context, Mr. Dimtsas added that the New Piraeus Judicial Building, funded by the Recovery Fund and meeting high sustainability and environmental standards, will be delivered in the summer of 2026. These elements are not only present in the building but also in the public space, so that the area can regain its positive image. Furthermore, to support the micro-economy of the Saint Dionysios area in Piraeus, part of the development will include a donation to the Municipality for the creation of a park. ‘After all, the purpose of urban regeneration is to rejuvenate an area that was abandoned and degraded,’ he concluded. The panel included Mr. Konstantinos Mpitsos, CEO of Inventio Edge; Mr. Dimitris Channis, CEO of the HERACLES Group; Mr. Giannis Paniaras, Director of European Activities at the TITAN Group; and Mr. Chronis Akritidis, CEO of Public Space Regeneration SA. The session was moderated by Nikos Rousanoglou, journalist at Kathimerini.”
