In a Face-to-Face discussion with journalist Nikos Roussanoglou, the CEO of DIMAND presented the different dimensions of a 360° approach to sustainable urban development.

During the conversation, Mr. Andriopoulos highlighted the strategic importance of urban regeneration as a key priority for the future of the city, emphasizing that sports facilities should be viewed as catalysts for the development of broader urban functions within an area. As he characteristically noted, “A stadium can transform an entire neighborhood.” Referring to the Votanikos redevelopment project, Mr. Andriopoulos described Elaionas as “Athens’ last major opportunity” for a large-scale and sustainable urban transformation.

At the same time, he underlined the need for a long-term strategic vision that combines the historical identity of the area with environmental responsibility, modern infrastructure and the creation of meaningful social value. Furthermore, without overlooking the challenges often associated with urban regeneration projects in Greece, Mr. Andriopoulos referred to the delays caused during excavation works due to archaeological findings, while also stressing the importance of flexibility in managing such developments:
“At the Panathinaikos stadium site, we discovered antiquities. This delayed the project by eight months and cost us €1 million — however, next year these findings will be presented through a unique exhibition, ultimately becoming an asset for the space itself.”

Referring to DIMAND’s landmark redevelopment projects, he reiterated the company’s commitment to transforming inactive or underutilized areas into vibrant destinations that combine business activity, public space, hospitality and quality of life, placing sustainable urban development at the heart of both economic and social progress in modern cities.
