Referring to the Group’s investments in Thessaloniki, Dimitris Andriopoulos stated: «In the years we have been in Thessaloniki, the city never approached us; we approached the city. They didn’t understand why we were going to the Western Entrance, they didn’t believe that the FIX building would happen. We proved that things can be done, we did it with HUB 26, we will do it with the former FIX brewery facilities, with the former BALKAN EXPORT property, and with the properties of the Skyline project that exist in the city.»
As for the future of Thessaloniki, he emphasized: «The biggest issue is where the city is headed. Because from this depends where we are all headed next. Thessaloniki, after a period of stagnation, has decided in the past few years to evolve and move forward. This will depend on three factors: Mobility, because it is crucial that the extensions of the Metro move forward, the development of the port, which needs a vision, and the third is the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF). In a city of one million inhabitants, which has developed linearly and has this 160-acre area in its core, it is important for the Municipality, the Region, the citizens, and the entrepreneurs to seriously discuss how this area will be utilized. It is not a simple decision, because this direction will affect Thessaloniki for the next 50 years.»
The discussion was moderated by journalist Maria Samolada.
