New Piraeus Courthouse

The building to be constructed at the intersection of Haidariou, Fokionos, and Papastratou streets will be surrounded by extensive green spaces and a square, covering a total area of 3,000 square meters. These areas will be accessible to the public, along with the sports facilities spanning 1,500 square meters, planned for an adjacent plot, aiming to ensure the 24-hour operation of the area.

The new architectural complex will consist of a basement, ground floor, and five floors, arranged in a Π-shaped layout with a gradual elevation of the floors, creating an internal uncovered space that unifies the individual uses. Simultaneously, transparent passages will be created in parts of the complex. Access to the complex will be from Fokionos and Papastratou streets, and for the better functioning and service of the complex, a new internal road with controlled access will be constructed for the entry, exit, and parking of transportation vehicles and vehicles of the Hellenic Police, at the boundary of the plot towards Methonis Street.

The investment is implemented with support from the Recovery and Resilience Facility – Greece 2.0, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Piraeus Tower

The 22-story Piraeus Tower, with a total height of 88 meters and a built-up area of 34,329 square meters, houses offices, retail stores, a gym, a wellness area, and F&B spaces.

Its innovative design, combined with the implementation of green practices, makes the Piraeus Tower a symbol of progress, prosperity, and environmental responsibility in the heart of the city. To study the environmental performance of the Piraeus Tower, a comparative evaluation was conducted between constructing a new building (hypothetical scenario) and refurbishing the existing Piraeus Tower (actual project). The evaluation focused on metrics such as embodied energy and embodied carbon (reflected in the project’s environmental footprint) throughout its lifecycle. The comparison considered materials, transportation, and construction site activities, concluding that refurbishment was the more environmentally beneficial option. More information about the study can be found here.

The Piraeus Tower has received LEED Platinum certification, making it the first green high-rise building in Greece. Additionally, it aims for another globally recognized certification related to the health, well-being, and productivity of its users, the WELL certification (Well Building Standard).
